Aultmore distillery, acquired by John Dewar & Sons in 1925, has long played a crucial role in their blends. Despite being a vital component, it seldom saw official single malt releases until Bacardi acquired Dewar's in 1998. This marked the beginning of Aultmore's journey as a standalone single malt brand. Independent bottlings, like this one, have been essential in showcasing the distillery's excellent spirit.
Bottled in the 1980s by R.W. Duthie for Samaroli, this 1973 vintage Aultmore is part of the Handwritten Labels series. Samaroli, Italy's esteemed independent bottler, known for impeccable taste in single-cask whiskies, has left an indelible mark on the whisky world. The Handwritten Labels series, featuring Samaroli's elegant calligraphy, adds a personal touch to the presentation, highlighting his vision for both quality and aesthetics. This Aultmore bottling stands as a testament to the collaborative artistry of distillery, bottler, and visionary.
